Blue Line
The M.R.T Chaloem Ratchamongkhon Line
BEM has been granted concessions for mass rapid transit system projects from the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (“MRTA”), namely, MRT Blue Line comprises of M.R.T Chaloem Ratchamongkhon Line Project. Being one of Bangkok’s heavy mass rapid transit, the M.R.T. Chaloem Ratchamongkhon Line has become the first metro in Thailand because its initial system section of Hua Lamphong to Bang Sue that has 18 stations along the over 20 kilometers distance.On August 9th, 1999, H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej graciously bestowed the name “The M.R.T. Chaloem Ratchamongkhon” which means “Celebration of the Auspicious Kingship” on this Thailand’s first underground line, H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit presided over the official inauguration ceremony on the 3rd July, 2004.
BEM have been Granted concessions for operation of metro services from the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) which includes :
The M.R.T. Chaloem Ratchamongkhon Line (MRT Blue Line Project),
Total distance 48 kilometers 38 stations. Comprising:
- Hua Lamphong – Bang Sue section, total distance 20 kilometers 18 stations, as Thailand’s first underground mass rapid transit project.
- Hua lamphong – Bang Khae section, total distance 16 kilometers 11 stations which is underground and elevated structure.
- Bang Sue – Tha Phra section total distance 12 kilometers 9 stations which is elevated structure all route.
Rolling Stock
Each service car is a 750-volt DC air-conditioned heavy rail of 3.12 meters in width by 21.5 – 21.8 meters in length by 3.8 meters in height. The railway system is controlled by the Automatic Train Operation System from the Operation Control Centre.Passenger Transport Capacity
Currently there are 54 trains in the system, consisting of 19 first train models and 35 new train models, 3 trains per truck.

The first electric train in 1 train (3 cars) can carry about 886 passengers.
New electric train in 1 train (3 cars) can carry about 1,129 passengers.
Train Speed
Maximum speed capacity of a train is 80 kilometers per hour while the average speed is 35 kilometers per hour.Station
The three-story structure consists ofGround Level on the first floor where the entrance to the station with many convenient facilities, elevators, escalators and ramps.
Concourse level on the second floor where tickets office, Ticket Vending Machine (TVM) and facilities for disabled such as elevators,toilets and ramps way. Some stations can connect to the Park and Ride Buildings
Platform level on the third floor where the train stops. The Platform Screen Door (PSD) will automatically open and close when the train comes to a complete stop.
